Energy Efficiency in the U.K.

Britain has launched a Green Deal consultation to run from December 23, 2011 to January 18, 2012. In a speech in Parliament as part of his annual Energy Statement, the Minister of the Department of Energy and Climate Change discussed the Green Deal, which allows individuals and businesses to make energy efficiency improvements to their buildings at no upfront cost, allowing repayment in installments through the ongoing electricity bill. The Minister predicts the measures would not only protect property owners from rising energy bills but also support at least 65,000 insulation and construction jobs by 2015.
